how to reduce exam stressIntroduction

Let’s face it. No body likes taking exams but it is something everyone has to attend to if they are in school. Students in all grade levels are constantly facing pressure to do well in school by taking exams. However, for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the pressure is even bigger. With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, students can become restless and inattentive during an exam, in addition to experiencing the general stress from wanting to do well on the exam. Taking an exam at any grade level does not have to be a strenuous process for anyone, especially for someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. There are many practical and efficient ways to eliminate exam stress. This article will explore some of them. They include studying in advance for exams and having a balanced diet.

Studying In Advance

With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, one of the best ways to eliminate exam stress is to study in advance. Make sure to study at least a week prior to the date of the exam.   This way you will not have to cram for the exam at the last minute. In addition, this will also enable students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to be more organized and prepared for the exam, leaving them stress-free. Feeling more prepared and organized for the exam will enable you to be more relaxed during the exam and do better on the exam, especially if you are battling the every day struggles associated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Balanced Diet

With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, another way to eliminate exam stress is to have a balanced diet. According to NHS Choices, “Some parents find that too many high-fat, high-sugar and high-caffeine foods and drinks (such as cola, sweets, chocolate, burgers and chips) make their children hyperactive, irritable and moody.” When you’re hyperactive, irritable, and moody before an exam due to poor nutrition, especially with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, your stress level naturally increases. This does not help before an exam. Try eating foods high in protein. Protein stays in your system for a long time and will enable you to have a lot of energy for the exam and more importantly do well on the exam, especially with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Conclusion

Studying in advance and having a balanced diet are just two ways to handle exam stress. If they work for you, great. If they do not work for you, experiment. You will find your match.
